Pendragon Poodles: Blog 1 Hope all had a Poodle-ishious Christmas!

An Uther Pendragon Tail! Err... Tale.

Once upon a time in a western land where snow was rare and rain common there lived a great king: Uther Pendragon. Uther, the greatest of all Standard Poodles loved Christmas. Christmas had delicious smells, people, activity, and best of all? Paper. This wondrous creation enveloped all sorts of relatively uninteresting objects, but that paper. Weeeee! It crinkled marvelously. It tore in lovely unpredictable ways. Christmas also always meant a special rubber ball, almost always blue, and most special of all, was it quite incredibly squeaked as if some terrified small creature lived inside and only King Uther Pendragon could summon this wee being from the encumbrance of all that lovely malleable rubber.
Now Uther Pendragon, king of the realm, had had a lovely year. Heather and Greg had moved to a large house with acreage. They had also introduced Igraine in to the mix. Uther's Queen. So this Christmas there were two balls wrapped under the tree amongst all the other gifts: Uther's and a smaller, red ball, for Igraine.
Now, Uther had many toys. He was, after all, king. There were tennis balls aplenty, squeaky octopi which he took great delight in eviscerating, all sorts of Kongs, and ever so much more.
A few days before Christmas, the King and Queen were lazing with Heather and Greg on the bed. The sun was streaming in and all was right in the land.
"Uther," Heddy said, "Go get your ball."
His tennis ball was in the living room.
"Go get your ball," she repeated.
Uther sprang up off the bed and disappeared down the hall.
We waited.
1 minute.
2 minutes.
3 minutes.
Perhaps more.
"And you think this is a bright dog?" Heddy said. It was still early in their relationship.
We could hear Uther finally coming back down the hallway. He rounded into the room through the double French doors with his new squeaky blue ball in his mouth! He had, after all, been given permission to get his ball.
He had gone under the tree, left all objects, including Igraines smaller (inferior?) ball, alone and had then proceeded to open his present.
I looked knowingly at Heddy.
"Wow," she said.
"Yeah, wow."
Pendragon Poodles wow!!!!
Hope you all have a Happy Wondrous Utherian New Year!
